NEPA Requirements
The Federal Railroad
Administration (FRA) will lead the
preparation of the Portal Bridge Capacity Enhancement EIS in conformance
with the National
Environment Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), legislation aimed
at ensuring that environmental information is available to public officials
and the public before decisions are made. The
Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will be a cooperating agency in the environmental analysis. Amtrak and NJ
TRANSIT, as co-sponsors of the project, will also be important participants
in the process.
